On Sunday Chandrayaan 3 sent its first reports of the lunar surface temperature of the moon’s south pole. Scientists discovered, the high 70°C temperature near the lunar surface of the moon. The between 20°C to 30°C was the estimated temperature of the landing zone of Chandrayaan-3.
However, the estimated temperature (20°C to 30°C ) is not matched instead the reports show a shocking 70°C on the surface.
ISRO’s scientist BH Darukesha said, “We all believed that the temperature could be somewhere around 20°C to 30°C on the surface but it is 70°C. This is surprisingly higher than what we had expected”.
On the Earth, the variation of temperature is not that high than the lunar surface of the moon.
The scientists said, “When we go two to three centimeters inside the Earth, we hardly see two to three-degree centigrade variation whereas there (in Moon), it is about 50°C. This is something interesting,”
The temperature of the lunar surface variation is very high. The temperature varies from 70°C to -10°C. These temperatures are examined by the Vikram rover at different depths of the moon’s surface.
At the highest of 20mm, the temperature increases up to 60°C, and at the -80mm depth the temperature decreases to -10°C. These temperatures have been measured during the day on the lunar surface.
